SMS conversations — the whole exchange in one view
A standalone inbox shows you an incoming "yes" without telling you what someone is replying to. The conversation view puts everything you exchanged with one number in chronological order — your own message and the reply. You can respond directly from the same screen, and export the full conversation to Excel.
Why a conversation and not a message list?
Context is preserved
You immediately see which message someone is responding to. No more digging through the outgoing list to find out what you had asked.
Colleagues pick up where you left off
If you work with subaccounts, your team sees the same conversations. Follow-up doesn't stall when someone is ill or on leave.
Exportable to Excel
Keep a conversation in a file, hand it over to a colleague or use it as evidence in a discussion about what was agreed.
What you need to be able to reply
To hold a conversation, your recipient must be able to reply. That requires a sender a reply can reach — not an alphanumeric name, but a real number. There are three options:
Virtual number. A Belgian mobile number without a SIM card, managed entirely online. The most popular option.
SIM hosting. We host your own SIM card, you manage the inbox online. Handy when you want to keep an existing number.
Shared shortcode. Our own short number, available immediately without an application. Ideal to get started quickly.
What do you use two-way SMS for?
Prefer your own system?
The conversation view in the dashboard doesn't exclude anything. You can simultaneously have incoming messages forwarded to your own application via a webhook, or to an email address — for example the mailbox of the colleague doing the follow-up. The conversation then remains visible in both environments.
