SMS at events: from sign-up to the door
At an event there are three moments where a message is the difference between a smooth day and chaos at the entrance.
The confirmation on sign-up
With date, place and what to bring. This reduces questions in the week before.
The day before
Practical matters: where to park, when doors open, what the weather means for the layout. This is the most-read message.
During
Changes to the programme, a relocated session, or a call-out during an incident. For that last one you need the channel that works without wifi — and at a busy event that is SMS.
Prepare the list
Ask for the number at sign-up and say what you will use it for. Anyone who only asks on the day has no list when they need one.
Test beforehand
Send yourself a message from the place you will be doing it from on the day.
