Communicating a delivery window that holds
A time window you do not meet is worse than no window at all. The customer plans their day around it.
Choose the width honestly
A two-hour window you meet is worth more than a thirty-minute window you miss half the time. Start wide and narrow it only when your planning can take it.
Send it at the right moment
The morning itself, not the evening before. Your round still changes, and a window promised in the evening often no longer holds the next day.
Notify on deviation
If you run more than half an hour late, send a new message. That is the one people remember, and it saves phone calls.
Say what happens if nobody is home
Neighbour, collection point or a new attempt. Anyone who knows in advance is less unhappy when it happens.
Measure it
Track how often you are within the window. Without that figure you do not know whether your window is realistic.
