SMSBOX is now available in seven languages

As of today, SMSBOX is available in seven languages. Alongside Dutch, French and English, you can now use the platform in German, Italian, Spanish and Polish.

Which languages do we support?

  • Dutch
  • French
  • English
  • German — new
  • Italian — new
  • Spanish — new
  • Polish — new

Where does your language setting apply?

The language you choose follows you everywhere:

  • The website — every page has its own version per language, with its own address. So you can safely share a link: your colleague lands on the page in the language you opened it in.
  • The customer portal — menus, sending screens, delivery reports, your phonebook and your billing details.
  • Our e-mails — confirmations, reminders and invoices go out in your language, not in ours.

The language is set per user, not per company. If someone in your organisation prefers to work in another language, they simply change it in their own profile — the rest of the account notices nothing.

And the language of your messages?

That has always been entirely yours: you can send through SMSBOX in any language, including languages the platform itself does not exist in.

Do keep an eye on the character count. As soon as a single character in your message falls outside the standard GSM alphabet — a Polish ł, a Spanish ñ, a German ß, or a quotation mark your word processor converted — the whole message switches to Unicode and the limit drops from 160 to 70 characters. One letter can push a message from one to three texts. So count your characters up front, especially in personalised fields: otherwise a name with an accent quietly makes one message in ten more expensive.

The sender name deserves attention too when you send across borders: not every country allows an alphanumeric sender, and some require prior registration. If you send from your own software, nothing changes about the integration — the SMS API works in every language with the same fields.

Setting your language

On the website you switch languages with the picker at the top of the page. In the portal you set your preference in your profile; from then on that choice also applies to the e-mails we send you.
