What is Mail2SMS and who is it useful for?

Mail2SMS turns an email into an SMS. You send a mail to a fixed address, and the recipient gets a text message.

Why that is useful

Because virtually every system can already send mail. Your accounting package, your monitoring software, your planning tool — all of them can send an email, and none of them knows your SMS platform. With Mail2SMS you connect them without a line of code.

Typical uses

Server monitoring that has to reach you at night. An alarm from a system with no API. An old application nobody wants to touch any more but which still has to report something.

The limitations

You get no direct feedback on whether the message arrived, and personalisation is limited. It is not built for large campaigns.

What to watch

Limit who may mail that address. An address everybody knows that sends SMS at your expense is a risk — which is why a check on the sender should always be in place.
